“LOST PLATE – please help”
How many times have we read this in our forums? Rarely do we see the thread having a happy ending. The best help I’ve read is advising how to go about the process of reporting it lost and getting a replacement. It is indeed a very unpleasant experience.
They say that Filipinos are kind-hearted people and is always willing to help. But why does these lost plates don’t turn up?
OK, picture this.. you found a license plate just outside your house. What will you do? Some of you would probably post it Facebook or a forum you frequent. Some will tie it to the fence hoping the owner sees it. Someone with a lot of time in his hands will probably go the police to file a report. (What does the police do with it afterwards, anyway?) Others just won’t care and leave somewhere.
Why not increase the chances of finding your license plate in the unfortunate event that it happens? It’s very simple!
It’s up to you what to put on it, just make sure it has at least your phone number or an address. You also need to make sure the note would last the elements. Apart from the fact that it’s already out in the open always, consider that if ever it falls off, it can end up in a puddle and might not be found for a few days.
So what are you waiting for? Add one to yours now.. And why stop with your license plate?
Make sure to update the info in your driver’s license as well.
Prevention is still better than cure. Always secure your belongings. HTH!
