Semana Santa 2012 (Part 4): Back to the Island of Luzon!

I didn’t see a lot of Leyte but it’s okay. It only meant I have a lot of reason to go back to the island. For now, I have to make my way from Tacloban City to Allen, Samar to catch the RORO back to Luzon before it gets dark.

???????????????????????????????

Come to think of it, I also didn’t get to see a lot of Samar either. If you recall, I passed through Samar going to Leyte at night. I was too busy trying to stay awake. This time, I have daylight on my side. I’m praying it doesn’t rain though.

The road from Tacloban to Calbayog is in good condition. Mountain slopes on one side, the sea just a few kilometers on the other side. Very refreshing!

Catbalogan, Samar's capital is 100 kms away from Tacloban City, Leyte.

Weather is very unpredictable in this region but the sun was shining brightly when I got to the Capitol

I wish I have this habal-habal's roof and widshield. It's been raining on this part in Santa Margarita

I traveled 171 kms on one full tank. I refueled with 3.52 kms or P238 at P67.65/L. Slowing down and maintaining a 50kph speed can really save fuel

I normally rest no longer than 30 minutes and only intake energy bars and energy drinks if needed.

While resting, I noticed this little fella stuck in my knee protector. Poor thing! Never mind those "list of interesting facts", it is not true that they have 24 hours life span.

Calbayog "tricycle's" trademark has got to be those small wheels. It has 4 wheels in total.

Calbayog-Allen road has a lot of road works going on and since I am ahead of schedule, I thought, I can go the long way - via Catarman

Calbayog-Allen road has a lot of road works going on and since I am ahead of schedule, I thought, I can go the long way – via Catarman. This will double the distance to be traveled.

The roads leading to and from Catarman are OK. Not polished like asphalted roads though. It cuts through the mountain so best to avoid it when travelling at night or alone. Wait, I am alone!

Best part of the RORO crossing is the sunset. God it's beautiful!

I'm back Luzon. Did you miss me? I'm waiting for some buses to leave the port. I'll tail them all the way to Legazpi! Haha!

I needed to stop and refuel somewhere in Sorsogon City. I was left alone again. Good thing is Sorsogon roads are in excellent condition and has reflectorized paint.

I was home by 10PM. My niece and nephew are still awake. I’ll make it up to them the following day. I had a long day, almost 450 kms actually.
