As usual, I’m off to a slow start with blogging this 2014. I would like to start with a good news though – a construction of a new road that might just help make traffic lighter in my neighborhood.
I made a few calls (actually a lot since I got a lot of runaround) to various offices of the City of Binan, City of Sta Rosa and SM. As what you might expect from people you talk to on the phone, I got little info. Nobody knew anything! Perhaps the only useful information I got was that THE ROAD ALREADY EXISTS!
So, when I got off of work during a sunny-but-chilly afternoon, I went looking for this road. A few slums community and a single-track rough road later, I found it!
First thing I noticed is how “old” it is. It has obviously been there for a while. Next thing I noticed was a center island barrier between the two lanes (one in each direction). Hmm, no passing. A shoulder road is non-existent too. Cut the grass you say? It’s not going to help since the road is ELEVATED from the field for 2 feet at least and sometimes as high as 6 feet. Sure, the road won’t get flooded, but if a car breaks down…
I drove towards Binan and ended up just a few meters from the road in front of UNILAB and a stone’s throw away from the fences of Brentville International School.
I turned around and started heading the other way towards Sta Rosa to see what the other end looks like. I can clearly see Robinson’s, New Sinai Hospital and SM Sta Rosa as I get nearer. And nearer is what I really got.
So, this access road is basically complete. It’s only roughly 500 meters shy of being completed end-to-end. Some grass to trim, a few light poles to be fitted with bulbs, and some road markings and it’s all good to go.
